Wentworth
Falls
105km from Sydney
A
‘weatherboard hut’ was established here in 1814 by road builder
William Cox, providing the region with its first name; which
was changed to ‘Jamison’s Valley’ in 1815 by Governor Macquarie;
and finally changed to Wentworth Falls in 1879.
In 1826 an inn was built at Pitt Park and was called ‘The
Bathurst Traveller’ before being renamed the ‘Weatherboard
Inn’. One of its many famous visitors was Charles Darwin.
Before
you reach the town, for a few unforgettable experiences turn
left at the top of Bodington Hill, into Tableland Road.
Yester
Road leads to the magnificently restored Yester Grange - a
grand historic 20 acre estate with ancient parkland gardens,
stunning views, Victorian house and fine antiques, now operating
as a bridal and function centre.
