Picturesque Leura Village Leura by the way, is thought to be an Aboriginal word meaning ‘lava’, appropriate because of the large number of volcanic stones found in the area. Each October, tens of thousands of people travel to Leura from throughout the nation to admire and photograph these gardens. Leura Village Annual Fair is also one of the best-known in the country. Turn left to Gordon Falls Reserve for spectacular views of the Jamison Valley and to the falls themselves. Perfect for lazing away some hours beside babbling brooks or strolling down beside the cascades to famous Leura, Linda, Lila and Bridal Veil Falls. North Leura also holds many a treat - specially for the real bush lover who wants to experience the peace and solitude of the wilderness on the road out to Mt Hay.
